Characterization of Conducted EMI Generated by Switched Power Converters

چکیده
A simplified simulation method for the calculation of conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) caused by switched power converters (SPCs) is presented. The method presented here is based on a “sourcepropagation-pathderived disturbance” simulation process and is specially designed to simplify the mentioned computation problems. In the design of the proposed method, quick and robust simulations were preferred rather than very accurate results. The resulting models allow quite accurate predictions and sensitivity analysis when certain changes in components or layout are introduced. The paper presents two validation cases, where simulation and experimental results of conducted EMI generated by a general-purpose VSI, with different switching patterns and different layout, are compared. Index Term-Converters, electromagnetic interference (EMI), modeling, power conversion.

This paper investigates the effect of several frequency modulation profiles on conducted-noise reduction in dc-dc converters with programmed switching controller. The converter is operated in variable frequency modulation regime. Twelve switching frequency modulation profiles have been studied. Some of the modulation data are prepared using MATLAB software, and others are generated online. More...
متن کاملImproved EMC of Switched-Mode Power Converters with Randomized Modulation
This paper surveys some analytical and experimental results concerning different randomized modulation strategies in switched-mode power converters (SMPCs). After a short review of practical experiences within the literature it presents the benefits of several randomized schemes for power converters (i.e. reduced electromagnetic interference EMI, and lower acoustic noise). It also introduces th...
متن کاملPrediction of the Conducted EMI from DC-DC Switched-Mode Power Converters
This paper presents theoretical estimation of the conducted electromagnetic emissions from a SMPS, based on Fourier analysis. The theory is applied to a buck converter. The comparison between the theoretically estimated and measured EMI shows that the CM EMI was well predicted. Up to 3 MHz the measured DM noise was much lower than the predicted one, which could be because of unknown DM noise so...
متن کاملAnalysis and Spectral Characteristics of a Spread-Spectrum Technique for Conducted EMI Suppression
Frequency modulation (FM) and random switching methods have been used for reducing conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) in power converters. Limited theoretical studies and comparisons of these schemes, however, are available. In this paper, a detailed analysis and the spectral characteristics of a random carrier-frequency (RCF) technique for suppressing conducted EMI in an offline swit...
متن کاملNovel Frequency Swapping Technique for Conducted Electromagnetic Interference Suppression in Power Converter Applications
Abstract: Quasi-resonant flyback (QRF) converters have been widely applied as the main circuit topology in power converters because of their low cost and high efficiency. Conventional QRF converters tend to generate higher average conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the low-frequency domain due to the switching noise generated by power switches, resulting in the fact they can exceed...
